Four Patch Quilt Block
Also known as Four-Patch.
The Four Patch is a simple block of four equal squares arranged in two rows, with two fabrics usually alternating diagonally. This 12-inch version is useful for checkerboard layouts, scrap quilts and as a unit within larger blocks.

Notes
Join the squares into two rows, press the row seams in opposite directions, then join the rows. Take care to nest the seam allowances so the four corners meet neatly at the centre; a shifted central junction is the most common fault.
