Adobe Diamond Courses

Adobe Diamond Courses is built from fifty-six Square in a Square blocks at ten inches each, and finishes at 96 by 108 inches. Pale Adobe forms the four corner triangles of every block and the two-inch sashing between them, so the centres sit as isolated diamonds in a wide sand field. From the top, four courses of two rows run Sun Clay, Terracotta Mesa, Cactus Sage, then Mineral Blue. A two-inch Sun Clay strip and a five-inch Pale Adobe border bring the queen to size.

Construction starts with a centre square on point. Sew a Pale Adobe triangle to each side, matching midpoints so the diamond lands true, and press into the darker fabric. Join seven blocks with two-inch Pale Adobe strips; add horizontal sashing before the next course. Keep each colour in its pair of rows; do not rotate the blocks.

The piecing stays at a generous scale: ten-inch units, long sashing strips, and two borders held to a consistent width. It is confident work for a maker used to triangles, suited to a queen mattress or a wall where the four courses sit as one elevation.
