How it's made
Hi there! Let's get started with a sweet little bow tie block.
Sometimes it's called the necktie, and it's a lovely way to use up old shirts.
Cut four squares at four and a half inches, two of each colour, and two little teal ones at two and a half.
Now for the knot: sew a little teal square onto one corner of each cream, then flip it back.
Turn those corners to the middle and sew a four-patch. There's your bow tie!
Set them between plain cream squares and every little tie gets room to shine.

About this quilt
The bow tie block, also called the necktie: a four-patch with a stitch-and-flip knot in the middle. 8″ finished (8½″ unfinished).
CUT • Teal: two 4½″ squares and two 2½″ squares • Cream: two 4½″ squares
MAKE • Draw a diagonal on the wrong side of each 2½″ square • Lay one on a corner of each cream square, sew on the line, trim ¼″ past and press out • Lay out the four squares with the teal squares on one diagonal and the little teal corners meeting in the middle • Sew in two rows, then join the rows
OTHER SIZES: the big squares are half the finished block plus ½″, and the knot squares half of that plus ½″. For a 6″ bow tie: 3½″ and 2″.
TIP: press the four-patch seams in opposite directions so the knot's points nest.
