How it's made
Pointed ears, scalloped wings and a friendly face, all from squares.
Bats are the only mammals that truly fly. Each wing is a hand, scalloped between the fingers.
Sew an orange and a bat square a quarter inch each side of the line, then cut. Two wing tips at once.
Bat corners on an orange rectangle point the ears. Sew them between the tips with two orange squares.
Two yellow squares make the eyes, with bat strips between and a chin below.
A bat rectangle each side of the face spreads the wings.
Small orange corners round off bat squares into scallops. Make four.
Bigger orange corners point the body. Sew it between the scallops.
Join the rows, then frame them in orange, sides first, so neighbouring bats never touch.
Make nine for a little Halloween wall hanging.
