How it's made
Arms out, legs apart and icing buttons, all from squares and strips.
Gingerbread has been baked for centuries. A folk tale made the little man famous.
Small cream corners round off a gingerbread strip. Make two, and turn one over for the chin.
Two white squares are the icing eyes. Sew the eye row between the strips, and a cream piece each side.
A white square between two gingerbread strips makes a button. Make two, and sew one into the body row.
Round one end of a gingerbread strip for a hand. Make two, and sew them either side of the other button.
Cream corners on opposite ends slant each leg outward. Side by side, they open a gap between the legs.
Round the bottom of two gingerbread pieces for feet, and sew them in a row with cream between.
Join the rows with a cream strip top and bottom, so every cookie has room around it.
Make nine for a sweet holiday wall hanging.
