Ink Ochre Offset

Ink Ochre Offset is a throw built from Half Rectangle Triangle blocks, thirty of them set five across and six down with two-inch Chalk Linen sashing, finished at 76 × 90 inches. Each twelve-inch block is one long diagonal seam dividing a rectangle into a pale half of chalk linen and a dark half of either Deep Ink or Ochre Field, and the blocks are rotated column by column so the diagonals climb in one column and fall in the next. The sashing holds each block apart, so the offset reads as a deliberate rhythm rather than a chevron, and the sixty pieces make this the least piecing on any Alder Fold quilt. Half rectangle triangles are not symmetrical, so the pattern gives the cutting direction for every piece and asks you to press each block before it meets the sash so the long bias seam stays true. A sage inner border and a Deep Ink outer border finish the edge. It suits a confident beginner who has pieced squares and wants a first bias seam at a generous scale, or anyone furnishing a calm room with something architectural.
