How it's made

A gold rim and both hands at twelve, ready to ring in the new year.

At midnight both hands point straight up, and snowball corners round the face. Not a curve to sew.

A navy corner rounds the outside of a gold square, a cream one the inside. Make four and turn them.

A black strip between cream makes the hands, straight up at twelve. A gold strip on top is the rim.

A gold square is the pin the hands turn on, and a black one marks the six. Sew the column down to the bottom rim.

A black square halfway down a cream column marks the nine. Add a gold rim, then copy and turn it for the three.

Sew a corner above and below each side, join the three columns, then frame it all in navy.

Twelve clocks and a gold border, all striking midnight together.
