How it's made
A tuxedo, flippers, an orange beak and little feet, all from squares.
Penguins can't fly, but their stiff flippers make them superb swimmers.
Start with the face: two black squares for eyes, set wide apart with white between.
White corners on the bottom of an orange rectangle point the beak down. Sew white either side.
Add a white strip above and the white belly below, then black corners round it like an egg.
Black strips down the sides, a black head on top and a strip below. Ice corners round him off.
An ice corner tapers each black flipper toward his tummy.
Sew ice above and below each flipper, then sew them to his sides.
Two orange feet in an ice strip go underneath.
An ice frame, sides first, keeps neighbouring penguins from touching.
Nine penguins and a black border make a waddle for a winter wall.
