How it's made
Hi there! Let's make a classic snowball block together. It's quicker than you'd think.
There isn't one curved seam in a snowball. It's just four corners, sewn on and flipped back.
Cut one snowy square at nine and a half inches, plus four navy squares at three and a half.
Sew a navy square on each corner, right along the diagonal, then trim and press them out.
Set side by side, the corners meet in little navy diamonds.

About this quilt
The classic snowball block: a big square with its corners sewn off so it looks round, without a single curved seam. 9″ finished (9½″ unfinished).
CUT • Snow: one 9½″ square • Navy: four 3½″ squares
MAKE • Draw a line corner to corner on the wrong side of each navy square • Lay one on each corner of the big square, right sides together, and sew on the line • Trim ¼″ past the stitching and press the corners out
OTHER SIZES: cut the corner squares a third of the finished block plus ½″. For a 6″ block: a 6½″ square and four 2½″ corners.
TIP: sew a thread's width to the outside of the line, so the corners press out flat and square.
