How it's made

Hi there! Let's get started on our sweet little snowy owl, big yellow eyes and all.

Snowy owls live up in the Arctic, and unlike most owls, they hunt by day.

Let's start with the eyes. Sew tiny yellow corners onto a black square, so the pupil comes out round.

Now frame it in yellow, the short sides first, then the top and bottom.

White corners turn the whole eye into a big yellow circle. Make two. Look at that stare!

For the beak, white corners point a little black rectangle down. Sew white either side.

Sew white strips beside the eyes, add the top and the beak row, then navy corners round his head.

Now the body. A white corner tucks each grey wing in at the shoulder, with the white chest between.

Sew the head on, and navy corners round off his plump little tummy.

Navy down the sides, a brown branch to sit on, and navy top and bottom so the owls never touch.

Six of them make a lovely winter wall hanging, and the branches join right across.
