Ink Concentric

Ink Concentric is a Concentric Squares throw in chalky cream, ochre and ink, set five by six of twelve-inch blocks with no sashing so the nested squares sit in a measured architectural grid. Finished size is 73 by 85 inches. Each block is a twenty-five patch Concentric Squares, also called Bull's Eye: an ink centre, a cream middle ring, and ink filling the outer ring so the field reads as cream frames on a dark ground. Cut the two values into squares of one size and sew them in rows, pressing toward the ink so the cream stays flat. Because there is no sashing, the dark outer rings of neighbouring blocks meet and the cream frames sit in a quiet repeat. An ochre inner border and an ink outer border close the composition. The pattern suits a beginner who likes square piecing and a modern, low-volume colour plan.
