About this pattern
Graphite Ohio Star is an Ohio Star throw, finished at 65 by 79 inches. Four twelve-inch blocks across and five down make twenty stars, with two-inch Pewter strips between them so each star keeps its own ivory ground. Each Ohio Star is a nine-patch. Warm Ivory fills the four corner squares and the light halves of the four side units. Near Black fills the centre square and the dark halves of those units, which are quarter-square triangles sewn as hourglasses so the dark points aim inward. Cut the five squares, make each hourglass from paired triangles, press toward Near Black, and join the nine patches in three rows, matching the four QST points into the centre. A two-inch Pale Stone inner border sits against the sash, then a three-and-a-half-inch Near Black outer border. The field is a grid of dark eight-pointed stars on a pewter lattice. It is for a piecer who wants a tailored throw of named stars and will keep those hourglass points true. The download includes yardage for Warm Ivory, Pewter, Pale Stone and Near Black, a cutting chart, the nine-patch order, and the four-by-five layout.
