About this pattern
Harbour Diamonds is a lap quilt of Half Square Triangles in a mineral blue called Harbour and a warm ivory, finished at 59 × 74 inches. The field is ten units across and thirteen down, each unit five inches, 130 half square triangles and 260 pieces in total. The units are turned so that four neighbouring triangles point toward one another, and the harbour halves gather into diamonds on the ivory ground across the whole lap. Two fabrics and one seam make this a steady project: pair a harbour square with an ivory square, sew on both sides of the drawn diagonal, cut apart, press toward the harbour and trim each unit to size before it goes into a row. The trimming is the step that makes the diamonds meet cleanly, so the pattern shows it with the measurements marked. A sea-glass inner border and a deep-water outer border keep the edges straight and bring in the other two fabrics from the Marlowe Field palette without any extra piecing. It suits a newer maker who wants their first triangle quilt to feel calm and finished, or anyone after a coastal lap for a sofa or a reading chair. The download includes yardage for all four fabrics, a cutting chart, the half square triangle method step by step, the row layout and a printable diagram.
