About this pattern
Graphite Zigzag is a zigzag throw in pale stone and near-black, set five by six of twelve-inch blocks with no sashing so the sawtooth runs in continuous bands across the quilt. Finished size is 73 by 85 inches. Each block is a traditional Zigzag, also called Rick Rack: a four-by-four grid of half-square triangles whose dark halves meet to form downward points, with pale stone filling the upward spaces. Cut the half-square triangles in pairs and press toward the near-black so the pale stone stays flat. Join the blocks in rows without turning them, matching the dark points from one block into the next so the zigzag does not break. A pewter inner border and a near-black outer border hold the graphic field. From a distance the quilt reads as stacked chevrons; up close it is only half-square triangles. The pattern suits a beginner who wants high-contrast piecing with a tailored result. The download is a full pattern pack with yardage, a cutting chart, piecing order and the layout for this throw.
