Lichen Flying X

Lichen Flying X is a Flying X crib quilt in candlewax, lichen, tarnished gold, moss shadow and aubergine, set five by six of eight-inch blocks with one-and-a-half-inch gold sashing so each cross sits in its own frame. Finished size is 56 by 66 inches. Flying X, also called Crosses and Losses, is a triangle block: lichen points form an X on candlewax, with extra triangles in the lower corners. Cut the accent triangles from paired squares, sew them to the cream, and press toward the lichen so the candlewax stays flat. Gold sashing keeps the Xs from merging into a night sky.
