About this pattern
Christmas Holly Bricks gathers Brick blocks into a Christmas baby quilt of ribbon gold and berry red, with plum velvet between the parcels, candle cream inside the frame and berry wrapping the edge. Four eight-inch blocks sit across, five down, with one-and-a-half-inch plum sashing, a one-and-a-half-inch cream inner border and a two-inch berry outer. The finished quilt measures 43½ by 53 inches.
Each Brick is a gold upper course over a berry square joined to a gold square, so a holly step sits at the lower left of every block. Sew the two squares along their shared edge, press into the berry, then attach the long gold rectangle; keep that berry corner consistent down the columns.
Plum sashing is the December dark between gold parcels; cream is the candle rim; berry is the Christmas wrap around a nursery quilt. A sewist who enjoys rectangle piecing at baby scale and will mind the berry corner belongs here. Hang it over a Moses basket on Christmas morning, or keep it on the nursery chair while stockings go up. The file lists yardage for gold, berry, plum and cream, cutting for the eight-inch Brick, the three-piece sewing sequence, and the 4-by-5 layout.
