Thanksgiving Harvest Plus

Thanksgiving Harvest Plus is a Thanksgiving crib quilt of Plus blocks in candle cream and clementine, with ribbon-gold sashings and a plum velvet frame. Four eight-inch pluses sit across, five down, with one-and-a-half-inch gold between them, a one-and-a-half-inch cream inner band and a two-inch plum outer. The quilt finishes at 43½ by 53 inches.

The Plus — also called Cross — uses nine equal squares: clementine for the centre and arms, cream in the four corners, so a harvest plus sits on a pale plate. Sew three rows, then join them, matching the centre so the arms form one plus. Press toward clementine to keep the corners flat when the gold sashing is added.

Gold sashing is the serving-ribbon between those plates; cream is the inner rim; plum is the November edge. A confident beginner who keeps strip widths even will manage the sashings. It belongs on a cot through Thanksgiving week, or over a child's shoulders on the way to a family dinner.
