About this pattern

Teal Coral Rails is a 69 by 89 inch throw of forty-eight 10-inch Rail Fence blocks, set six across and eight down with no sashing so the strips lock into a stair-step zigzag. Each block is four 2.5-inch finished bars: Parade Cream, Coral Flare, Parade Teal, then Parade Plum. Every other block turns 90 degrees, which is how cream and plum climb as continuous steps while coral and teal keep a horizontal beat.

A 2-inch Signal Violet inner border is the only place that fifth solid appears; a 2.5-inch Parade Plum outer border repeats the darkest rail and holds the zigzag in.

Strip-piece each Rail Fence as four bars, press toward plum, then rotate every other block before you join rows. Nest the cream and plum steps where a horizontal block meets a vertical one. Swap coral for violet in the second rail if you want a cooler run; cream and plum still bookend the values.

Made for a confident strip piecer who wants a graphic throw for a sofa or the end of a double bed. The download has yardage, a cutting chart, piecing order and the 6 × 8 layout.
