About this pattern
Twenty 12-inch Dutchman's Puzzle blocks, set four across and five down, make Coral Violet Puzzle: 62 inches by 76 inches. Parade Teal runs a 2-inch sashing through the field, a cool grid that keeps neighbouring geese from sharing an edge.
Parade Cream fills every background triangle. Coral Flare is the goose fabric on the even cells; Signal Violet is the goose fabric on the odd cells, so coral and violet sit on the diagonal. Cream repeats as a 1½-inch inner border against that teal grid; Parade Plum, 2½ inches, is the dark outer frame and the lowest value on the quilt.
A Dutchman's Puzzle is eight flying geese in four pairs, each pair rotated a quarter-turn around the centre. Cut each goose from two half-square triangles, press toward the coloured triangle, and join the pairs so the points travel clockwise. Align the teal strips before you match geese points at the sashing. For a warmer checker, put Coral Flare in the odd cells instead of violet; cream and plum still lock the range.
Flying-geese piecing for a window seat or the back of a sofa. The file has yardage, the cutting chart, piecing order and the 4 by 5 setting.
