About this pattern

Violet Plum Hourglasses finishes at 64 by 72 inches: fifty-six 8-inch Hourglass blocks, seven across and eight down, butted with no sashing so the quarter-square triangles share every edge. Even cells are Signal Violet on Parade Cream. Odd cells rotate 90 degrees in Parade Plum on the same cream, turning the dark hourglass on its side so cream diamonds travel between the two values.

Coral Flare runs a 1½-inch inner strip — the only warm solid, and the jump that makes violet pop. Parade Teal, 2½ inches, is the outer frame. Teal lives only in that outer band, a mid-tone that stops plum from eating the edge.

An Hourglass is four triangles from one quarter-square unit: two cream, two colour. Join, recut on the opposite diagonal, and press toward the darker pair so the centre cross nests when you sew the grid. Match those cream points where a violet block meets a rotated plum one. Trade Signal Violet for Coral Flare on the even cells if you want more heat; cream and plum still keep the darks in place.

Made for a confident QST piecer who wants a loud throw across a piano bench or the back of a studio sofa. The pack lists yardage, cutting, sew order and the 7 by 8 grid.
