About this pattern
Picture Book Four Patch finishes at 68 by 80 inches: a throw of thirty ten-inch Four Patch blocks. Each Four Patch is four squares: two Picture Book Cream on one diagonal and two of a single pastel on the other. Even rows pair Sherbet Peach with Lemon Sherbet; odd rows pair Toy-Box Mint with Soft Lilac, so neighbouring tiles never share a colour.
Two inches of Picture Book Cream sit as sashing, letting the cream halves of each block meet the gaps so the pastel squares read as a chequer of sweets. Soft Charcoal Line, cut at one and a half inches, inks a drawn edge around that field. Toy-Box Mint then adds three and a half inches, matching the mint tiles.
All the units are squares. Join them in pairs for each Four Patch, nest the centre so the four corners meet, sash the rows, then add charcoal and mint. Keep cream on the same diagonal throughout.
Sew it as a first throw for a playroom floor, a reading chair, or a child on the sofa. Inside the download: yardage figures, a cutting chart, sewing order, and the complete layout.
