About this pattern
Sweet Jar Snowballs finishes at 59 by 75 inches. Forty-eight eight-inch Snowball blocks sit in a six-by-eight grid with no gaps, so cream corners meet. Each Snowball is one large pastel square with four cream triangles sewn across the corners on the diagonal; trim the extra and the square becomes an octagon. Sherbet Peach, Lemon Sherbet, Toy-Box Mint and Soft Lilac each fill two whole rows, stacked peach then lemon then mint then lilac, twice, like sweets in a jar. Picture Book Cream is the corner fabric. Where four blocks meet, those triangles form small cream diamonds that run as a lattice through the pastels.
A one-and-a-half-inch Soft Charcoal Line sits just outside the piecing. Four inches of Picture Book Cream then wrap the edge, matching the diamonds.
Sew corners first, press toward the cream, and nest the diamond seams when you join blocks. Assemble in same-colour rows, then join the eight rows in order.
Made for a low daybed, a play-tent floor, or a gift for a new cousin. Packed in the file: fabric amounts, cut sizes, the sewing sequence, and a map of the top.
