About this pattern
Adobe Ground Pinwheels is a throw of thirty 12-inch Pinwheel blocks, finished at 79 by 93 inches. Terracotta Mesa and Mineral Blue triangles turn against Pale Adobe. Two-inch sashing in the same sand joins the blocks so the cream reads as one ground rather than a framed grid. A 1½-inch Cactus Sage inner border steps out to a four-inch Sun Clay band.
Each Pinwheel is four half-square triangles. Press toward the darker blade so the centre lock sits flat, then join the four units with a nested seam. The two colourways checkerboard across five columns and six rows; every other block is rotated ninety degrees so the turns shift from cell to cell. Match Pale Adobe through the block backgrounds and the sashing so those seams vanish into one plane.
The piecing is confident rather than fussy: large triangles, long sashing strips, and two borders that want even width. It belongs on a sofa, a daybed, or the foot of a bed in a room already given to plaster, timber and quiet colour. The download includes yardage for the five solids, a cutting chart for triangles, sashing and borders, piecing order for the Pinwheels, and the finished layout.
