About this pattern
Cactus Chevron Bands is a queen quilt of seventy-two 10-inch Half Rectangle Triangle blocks, finished at 96 by 106 inches. The field is three vertical colour bands: Terracotta Mesa occupies the first three columns, Cactus Sage the two in the middle, and Mineral Blue the last three. Pale Adobe fills every light triangle. Each block is a single diagonal seam; a ninety-degree turn from neighbour to neighbour sends the darker triangles into stacked flying-geese columns, with sand-coloured ground opening between the points. A 2-inch Sun Clay inner border and a 6-inch Pale Adobe outer border frame the piecing.
Cut mirrored Half Rectangle Triangle pairs to finish at ten inches. Sew the long bias, press into the darker fabric so the Pale Adobe triangle stays flat, and square before joining. Assemble column by column so the three bands remain even; nest the points where four units meet. No sashing interrupts the columns.
The construction is large triangles and long column seams, made for a queen bed or a long wall in a plastered, sunlit room. The download includes yardage for the five solids, a cutting chart for the mirrored pairs and borders, the seam order, and the three-band layout.
