About this pattern
Coral Teal Pinwheels is a 76 by 90 inch throw of Double Pinwheel blocks. Thirty 12-inch blocks checkerboard coral and teal on Parade Cream, every other block turned 90 degrees so the triangles keep travelling.
Parade Cream is the quiet half of every pinwheel and the 2½-inch outer border. Coral Flare fills the even blocks and the cornerstones on the 2-inch Parade Plum sashing; Parade Teal fills the odd blocks. A 1½-inch Signal Violet inner border sits between the plum lattice and the cream frame, and that cream-to-plum jump is what makes the pinwheels pop.
Each Double Pinwheel is sixteen half-square triangles, points meeting at the centre diamond and at the midpoint of every side. Press toward the darker triangle and nest those seams as you join the four quadrants. Swap coral for violet, or run all five solids through the same layout, and the rhythm still holds.
It belongs on a sofa or guest bed that can take a graphic hit. The download covers yardage, a cutting chart, piecing order and the 5 × 6 layout.
