About this pattern
Ink North Star is a North Star throw in frost, mist, periwinkle and ink blue, set five blocks wide by six high, each twelve inches, with two-inch mist sashing so every star sits in its own pale square of sky. Finished size is 81 by 95 inches. The star is the traditional North Star unit: an ink centre with four long points built from half-square triangles and matching squares, all against frost. Cut the star points first and sew them as a unit before joining the frost corners; press the point seams toward the ink so the frost stays flat and the points stay sharp. Nest the seams where four points meet at the centre so the block lies calm. Mist sashing keeps the field open and the value contrast readable from across a room. A periwinkle inner border and an ink outer border frame the quilt the way a winter window frames a clear night. The pattern suits a piecer who is comfortable with half-square triangles and wants a precise, unfussy result. The download is a full pattern pack with yardage, a cutting chart, piecing order and the layout for this throw.
