About this pattern

Wicklight Goose Chase is a Wild Goose Chase baby quilt in which candlewax-cream triangles fly over moss shadow, as if a short rushlight were moving through wet woods. Twenty eight-inch blocks — four by five — sit in lichen strips an inch and a half wide. Tarnished gold forms a two-inch inner border and aubergine a three-inch outer, so the top measures 46.5 by 56 inches. The block is two side-by-side stacks of flying geese, four units in each stack, cream on moss; every other square turns a quarter turn so the geese veer instead of marching off the edge. Set moss triangles onto a cream rectangle for each goose, assemble the two columns, then join those columns and watch the centre seam where the stacks meet. Press the seams into the moss so the cream edges stay proud. Meant for a maker who has pieced flying geese before and wants a compact Halloween crib top: keep it on a changing table, a Moses basket stand, or the arm of a nursing chair once the evenings draw in. The download includes yardage, a cutting chart, piecing order, and this exact layout.
