About this pattern
Leaf and Blossom is a maple-leaf throw in garden cream, leaf green and blossom, set 5 × 6 with two-inch chartreuse sashing so each leaf has a little air around it. Finished size is 78 × 92 inches. Alternate green and blossom leaves as you go; the stem of each maple points into the sashing, which is why the field reads as a cultivated grid rather than a scatter. Cut the HSTs for the stem and the three snowballed corners first, then assemble each 12-inch leaf as a unit before you join rows. Press the stem seam toward the leaf so the cream stays flat. A blossom inner border and a woodland outer border square the quilt and keep the greens from floating. The pattern suits a confident piecer who likes traditional units with a clear colour plan.
