About this pattern
Nine Patch blocks in two colourways, seven across and eight down, sit inside two-inch buttercream sashing. The top finishes at 93 by 105 inches — a queen size with a modest overhang.
Each block is nine squares. Berry blocks put deep berry in the corners and the centre, with buttercream on the four sides. Moss blocks put quiet moss in those five places and dusty rose on the sides. Set them in a checkerboard so a berry block always sits next to a moss one.
Sew three squares into a row, then join the three rows. None of the seams sit on the bias, so you can press as you go without the edges stretching. Join the finished blocks with the sashing strips, then add a two-inch dusty-rose inner border and a three-and-a-half-inch worn-walnut outer border.
It is meant for a queen bed that is slept in, and it suits a quilter who likes working in squares and a clear order of work. The pattern pack lists yardage, the cutting for the ten-inch Nine Patch in both colourways, the sashing strips and both borders, the sewing order, and the seven-by-eight layout.
