Pumpkin Maple Throw

A 72" × 85.5" throw of Maple Leaf blocks, five across and six down, each leaf finished at 12 inches. The even blocks take Pumpkin Toss for the leaf and Husk Pumpkins for the background triangles; the odd blocks use Cinnamon Check for the leaf on the same husk ground. Every other block is rotated 90 degrees so the stems do not all point one way.

Each Maple Leaf is pieced from squares and half-square triangles: the leaf body is four HSTs meeting at the centre, the stem is a small triangle in the lower corner, and the remaining corners are husk. Match the HST points; that is the only seam that needs watching.

One-and-a-half-inch sashing of Tiny Autumn Leaves sits between the blocks, with bark cornerstones. A 3" Bark Blender border frames the whole. Pumpkin Toss and Cinnamon Check sit at similar value, so the leaf silhouettes read from across a room against the husk; the check is the louder of the two. Sized for a sofa or the end of a bed as the evenings draw in.
