About this pattern

Dusk Windmill is a Windmill throw in frost, mist, periwinkle, dusk and ink blue, set five by six of twelve-inch blocks with two-inch mist sashing. Finished size is 81 by 95 inches. Each windmill is four half-square triangles of dusk against frost, arranged so the dusk blades turn around the centre. Every other block is rotated ninety degrees, which shifts the spin from mill to mill without adding extra piecing. Cut the half-square triangles in pairs, sew them into the four-patch, and press toward the dusk so the frost stays flat; nest the four blades where they meet in the middle. Mist sashing keeps each mill in its own pale square. A periwinkle inner border and an ink outer border hold the winter field. The pattern suits a piecer who is comfortable with half-square triangles and wants a calm, wintry throw with readable value contrast from across a room. It would live on a guest bed in January or folded on a landing chair under a north window. The download is a full pattern pack with yardage, a cutting chart, piecing order and the layout for this throw.
