About this pattern

Ink Lightning Streaks is a throw built from the Streak of Lightning block, a four-by-four of half-square triangles that all lean the same way so frost and ink blue form long diagonal bolts. Five blocks across and six down, each twelve inches finished, join with no sashing so the zigzags keep travelling. Finished size is 76 by 88 inches. Frost is the pale ground; ink blue is the bolt. A three-inch dusk strip sits just outside the last triangles, then a five-inch ink outer border, a dusk band against a darker night edge. Cut frost and ink into identical squares, mark and sew the diagonal, and trim each half-square to size before you sew four rows of four; keep the darker triangle on the same corner of every unit so the bolt runs true. Match the diagonal where blocks meet so the streak does not step. There are no cornerstones. The work suits a maker who enjoys a repeating half-square triangle and wants a winter throw with sharp value contrast for a sofa back or a spare bed. The download contains yardage for frost, dusk and ink blue, a cutting chart for the triangles and both borders, the piecing order for the sixteen-unit block, and this layout.
