About this pattern
Ink Ohio Stars is a baby quilt of twelve Ohio Star blocks, each ten inches finished. An ink centre square and four hourglass units make eight points on frost, with frost squares in the corners. Three by four of these sit in one-and-a-half-inch periwinkle sashing. A two-inch dusk inner border and a three-and-a-half-inch ink outer border bring the quilt to 44 by 55.5 inches.
Frost fills the star backgrounds. Ink blue is the star and the outer border. Periwinkle runs in the sash; dusk is the cooler band just inside the night edge. Make each hourglass from paired frost and ink half-square triangles, recut on the opposite diagonal, and set the ink triangles opposite each other. Press those seams open, then assemble the nine-patch so the points stay sharp. Keep the periwinkle crossings aligned.
The layout suits a crib or a compact daybed, and a piecer already at ease with quarter-square triangles. The download holds yardage for frost, periwinkle, dusk and ink blue, a cutting chart for the squares, hourglasses, sashing and both borders, piecing order for the Ohio Star, and this three-by-four plan.
