About this pattern

Gilt Flock sets Flock of Geese — stacked flying-geese units, also called Wild Geese — across a queen in tarnished gold and candlewax cream. Each twelve-inch block sits in two-inch moss-shadow sashing; a lichen band two inches wide and an aubergine frame three inches wide bring the top to 92 by 106 inches, six blocks across and seven down. Inside every square, sixteen gold triangles point one way on cream, four rows of four. The moss lattice is what holds each flight in its own pane instead of letting the gold run edge to edge. Piece every goose from a gold rectangle with cream triangles at the sides, join four geese into a row, stack four rows, and match the peaks as you sew the rows together. Press the cream off the gold so the points stay crisp. A generous twelve-inch unit, then straight sashing and two borders, suits someone already easy with flying geese who wants a seasonal bed quilt. Keep it on a queen mattress through All Hallows, or folded on a chest at the foot of the stairs. The download holds yardage for these five solids, a cutting chart sized to 92 by 106 inches, the piecing order, and the six-by-seven grid.
