Paper piecing

Trace a photo under your paper piecing

Put a photo or sketch under the panel from Photo underneath, then draw seams over it with Line. The photo stays on screen only, never in a saved picture or the printed pattern.

Where to find it

Paper piecing panel → left panel → Photo underneath → Add

Open paper piecing
On a blank paper piecing panel, Photo underneath → Add places a poinsettia photo under the panel, and the Line tool draws three seams through the middle of the flower along its petals, each new patch numbered

How to do it

  1. With a panel open, open Photo underneath in the left panel and press Add.
  2. Choose an image you've added before, or Add an image to bring in a new one, then press Add overlay. It fills the panel.
  3. Set See-through so the seams stay easy to see. Reframe moves and resizes it; Fit puts it back.
  4. Choose Line and draw seams along the shapes in the photo.
