Paper piecing

Color the patches in paper piecing

Choose Fill, pick a color or fabric in the palette, and click a patch to fill it. Drag across several patches to fill them in one stroke.

Where to find it

Paper piecing panel → tool bar → Fill (B), with a color or fabric from the palette on the right

Open paper piecing
With Fill on the paper piecing tool bar, one drag paints the house's three wall patches cream, then a click each makes the door navy, the roof brick and the two corners sky blue

How to do it

  1. With a panel open, choose Fill in the tool bar, or press B.
  2. Pick a color or a fabric in the palette on the right.
  3. Click a patch to fill it, or drag across several to fill them all.
  4. Pick another color and carry on. Undo takes back the last fill.

Good to know

  • Turn off Section tints under Show in the left panel to see your colors without the section shading.
  • Your own fabric photos are in the palette's Fabrics once you've added them to your stash.
