Paper piecing

Choose where a paper piecing pattern splits into sections

Quiltler splits the panel into sections, each sewn on its own paper, and says what order to join them in. With Section you click a seam that runs right across to make it the join between two sections yourself.

Where to find it

Paper piecing panel → tool bar → Section (S); the Sections list is in the left panel

Open paper piecing
With the Section tool, a click on the seam right across under a paper pieced house's roof splits it into two tinted sections, A for the roof and B for the walls, and the Sections list says Join A to B

How to do it

  1. Open the Sections list in the left panel. Each section has a letter and a count of its patches, and the line below says the order to join them, like Join A to B.
  2. To choose a split yourself, pick Section in the tool bar, or press S.
  3. Click a seam that runs right across a section. It's pinned as the join between two sections, and the tints and letters change to show them.
  4. Click a pinned seam again to unpin it.

Good to know

  • Section letters and Section tints under Show in the left panel turn the letters and shading on or off.
  • Each section prints on its own foundation sheet in the pattern.
