Paper piecing

Set the sewing order in paper piecing

Quiltler numbers each section's patches in an order you can sew. With Order you click a section's patches in the order you'd rather sew them, and a patch that can't go next is refused.

Where to find it

Paper piecing panel → tool bar → Order (N)

Open paper piecing
With the Order tool, clicking a paper pieced house's left wall, door and right wall in turn numbers them B1, B2 and B3, and the Sections list marks section B as your order

How to do it

  1. With a panel open, choose Order in the tool bar, or press N.
  2. Click the patch you want sewn first in a section, then the next, and so on. The bar under the tools counts them, like Section B: 2 of 3 set.
  3. A patch that can't be sewn on next along one straight seam is refused. Pick another.
  4. Click the last patch again to take it back, or press Start over. Once every patch is set, the Sections list marks the section your order.

Good to know

  • Use automatic order in the bar, or Reset in the Sections list, goes back to the order Quiltler worked out.
  • Patch numbers under Show in the left panel hides or shows the numbers.
