Measure in centimeters instead of inches

Switch Measure in to Centimeters and every length reads in centimeters, with fabric in meters. Your quilt itself doesn’t change.

Where to find it

Designer → Quilt settings → Measure in, or Account → Measurements

Open the designer
In Quilt settings, pressing Centimeters beside Measure in turns the Irish Chain’s 60-inch quilt width into 152.4 cm and its 12-inch blocks into 30.48 cm, and the even splits below read in centimeters too

How to do it

  1. In the designer, open Quilt settings at the top of the left panel.
  2. Next to Measure in, press Centimeters. The quilt’s width and height, block sizes, even splits, sashing and borders all read in centimeters at once.
  3. Press Inches to switch back. The quilt doesn’t change, only how its lengths read.
  4. To see both, go to Account → Measurements and pick Both — inches first, centimeters alongside or Both — centimeters first, inches alongside.

Good to know

  • The choice is saved on this device and applies everywhere: the design wall’s rulers, fabric amounts and the printable pattern.
  • On iPhone and iPad, the new-quilt setup measures in centimeters when your device uses the metric system.
