Split your quilt into equal blocks

Even splits list every way to divide the quilt’s width or height into equal blocks that land on a ruler mark. Pick one and the quilt stays the same size.

Where to find it

Designer → Quilt settings → Across and Down → Even splits

Open the designer
In Quilt settings, the even split 5 of 12 inches turns a blank 60-inch-wide quilt’s ten columns into five, then 6 of 12 inches under Down turns its twelve rows into six, so the quilt stays 60 by 72 inches in 12-inch blocks

How to do it

  1. Open Quilt settings in the left panel. Under the Across card, Even splits shows each way to divide the width: the number of columns, with the block size under it.
  2. Press one, say 5 over 12″. The quilt stays the same width and the grid redraws in five 12″ columns.
  3. Do the same under the Down card for rows.
  4. Press the more chip (it shows how many, like +9 more) for every split down to quarter-inch blocks.

Good to know

  • If a card says the last block is a part block, pick an even split to fill the quilt with whole ones.
  • Typing Columns or Rows instead keeps the block size and makes the quilt bigger or smaller.
  • No splits? Round the quilt’s width or height to a whole number first.
