Blocks & shapes

Name, save and share a shape

Give your shape a name and tags under Shape details, press Save to keep it in your library, and turn on Share publicly to let other quilters use it.

Where to find it

Shape Designer → right panel → Shape details, then Save in the top bar

Open the Shape Designer
In the Shape Designer's Shape details, a tumbler is named Blocks – Tumbler and tagged tumbler, Share publicly is turned on, and Save stores it

How to do it

  1. In the Shape Designer, click an empty part of the grid so nothing is selected. Shape details moves to the top of the right panel.
  2. Type a Name, and a Description and Tags if you like, so you can find it later. Pick a Category.
  3. Turn on Share publicly to let other quilters find and use it.
  4. Press Save (⌘S). It's kept in My Library → Shapes. To keep the original as it is, choose Save as new copy… from the arrow beside Save.

Good to know

  • Turn inside out keeps the piece everywhere the shapes are not, for a frame or a window.
  • Piece width and Piece height set the size of the piece the shape is drawn on.
