Design on the quilt

Select pieces on your quilt

Pick up one piece with a click, add more with Shift, or drag a box around a patch of them. The bar under the design wall then shows everything you can do to what you picked.

Where to find it

Designer → tool dock under the design wall → Select, or press V.

Open the designer
In the designer, a click selects one square of the Plus Quilt, shift-clicks add the two beside it, a click on the empty design wall lets them go, and a box dragged from the wall across the quilt's corner selects the twelve squares it touches

How to do it

  1. Choose Select in the tool dock, or press V.
  2. Click a piece. Handles appear round it and the bar under the design wall says 1 piece.
  3. Hold Shift (or ⌘) and click more pieces to add them, or click a selected one again to drop it.
  4. To pick a patch, start on an empty part of the design wall and drag a box: every piece it touches is selected.
  5. Press Select all (or ⌘A) for every piece. Click the empty wall, press Esc or press ✕ to let go.

Good to know

  • Dragging a selected piece moves it. To draw a box over a full quilt, start the drag just outside the quilt’s edge.
  • The 1 piece button on the bar lists what you picked, with All to select every piece.
  • To pick every piece of one fabric or shape at once, use the search at the top of the designer.
