Start a quilt

Start with a blank quilt

Skip the starting quilts and open an empty grid to place every piece yourself. Blank quilt is at the top of every step of the setup, and it's laid out for the way of sewing you chose.

Where to find it

Setup → Blank quilt (top right of every step)

Open the setup
In the new-quilt setup, Squares & strips is chosen and then Blank quilt: an empty grid of 6″ squares opens on the design wall, under a line that says Blank quilt. Want a head start? with a Set up a quilt button

How to do it

  1. Open Design. The setup opens on What do you want to make?
  2. Press Blank quilt at the top right for an empty 60″ × 72″ quilt on a grid of 12″ blocks.
  3. Or choose a way of sewing first, then Blank quilt: Squares & strips gives a grid of 6″ squares, English paper piecing a honeycomb of 2″ hexagons, and Foundation paper piecing a blank panel.
  4. The empty quilt opens on the design wall. Press Place pieces, or choose Place in the tool dock, and click the grid to put pieces down.
  5. Want a head start after all? Set up a quilt, in the line above the quilt, opens the setup again.
