Start a quilt

Start a new quilt

The setup walks you through three choices: how you like to sew, a quilt to start from, then its size, border and fabrics. It draws the quilt live as you choose, and Start designing puts it on the design wall to make your own.

Where to find it

Top bar → Design, or My Library → Quilts → New quilt. The setup opens on What do you want to make?

Start a quilt
In the new-quilt setup, Squares & strips opens a shelf of quilts; Trip Around the World is picked, Queen bed and a 5″ border redraw the live preview, and Start designing lays the quilt on the design wall

How to do it

  1. Open Design in the top bar. The setup opens on What do you want to make?
  2. Pick how you like to sew: Squares & strips, Pieced blocks, English paper piecing or Foundation paper piecing. Squares & strips, with no triangles, is marked Best first quilt.
  3. Pick the quilt closest to what you have in mind, such as Trip Around the World, Rail Fence or Log Cabin.
  4. On Size, finishing and fabrics, choose a size from Baby to King bed, or Custom, then any Sashing and Border. The Live preview redraws with each choice.
  5. Press Start designing. The quilt opens on the design wall, ready to recolor.

Good to know

  • Nothing here is final: sashing and borders can all be redone later in Quilt settings, and Back steps through the setup without losing your choices.
  • Before your first change, Change setup in the line above the quilt opens the setup again.
