Try ideas on a spare design wall

A spare design wall sits beside your quilt for trying pieces, blocks or a whole new colorway. Nothing on it counts toward yardage, and Make this the quilt swaps it in when it wins.

Where to find it

Designer → Quilt settings → Duplicate, or + beside Quilt

Open the designer
In the designer, an Irish Chain quilt hangs beside a rose and green copy on a spare design wall called Spring; Spring is picked in Quilt settings and Make this the quilt swaps them, so the rose version becomes the quilt and the denim one moves aside as the spare

How to do it

  1. Open Quilt settings. Press Duplicate to copy your quilt onto a spare design wall beside it, or + beside Quilt for an empty one.
  2. Try your ideas on the spare wall. Its name chip, beside Quilt, chooses which one the settings change: give it a Name and a size, or press Move to slide it.
  3. When the spare one wins, pick its chip and press Make this the quilt. Its pieces become the quilt, and the old quilt moves beside it as the spare.
  4. Press Remove to take a spare wall away. Its pieces stay where they are, loose beside the quilt.
