What gets counted — and what does not
- Pieces, not a bounding box. Yardage rolls up from roles on blocks and layout: background squares, goose triangles, border strips. Change sashing width and the total moves because the strips changed — that is quilt layout software geometry feeding the same numbers.

Design yardage vs rectangle calculators
A rectangle calculator asks for quilt width and height, assumes a simple grid, and returns a number that may be wrong the moment you add triangles, on-point sets, or a pieced border. How to read the numbers while you design
Set size. Place blocks or piece cuts. Paint fabric roles. Watch finished size and the fabric total update together. Save the quilt you would sew — free allows one saved quilt. When you are ready for per-fabric rows and backing math, export the pack. Confirm prices at checkout; terms are the legal copy.
